Privacy

Holler Bell runs entirely on your computer. You don't need an account and the app doesn't collect usage data. This page explains the little that does reach us.
Who we are
FEO digital agency s.r.o., Olomoucká 1005/166, Černovice, 627 00 Brno, Czech Republic, company ID (IČO) 27749461, registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Regional Court in Brno, file C 56491, is the controller of the personal data described here. Contact: privacy@hollerbell.com.
What reaches us, and why
Update check. The app asks our update server whether a newer version exists for your operating system. Like any web server, it sees your IP address, the time, and the request itself: the release channel, your operating system and architecture, the version of the app's update component and, in newer versions of Holler Bell, the version you have installed. The app checks once when it starts and whenever you click “Check for updates”; newer versions also send the installed version when you agree to download an update. It sends no account, no install ID and no data about you or your work. A new version is downloaded only after you agree.
Why: to deliver updates, to protect the update server against automated traffic and abuse, to keep the service secure, and to see in aggregate which versions are in use, so we know what to support and improve. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by writing to privacy@hollerbell.com.
Windows installer. If Microsoft Edge WebView2 is missing on your computer, the installer downloads it from Microsoft, under Microsoft's terms.
This website and downloads. Our web server keeps the same kind of access log (IP address, time, requested page, the page that linked to it, browser identification). When you click a download button, the website records which file you asked for, when, and a random download ID (not your IP address), and sends you on to our update server, which delivers the file and logs the request like any other. The download ID lets us match the two records, so we can count downloads and see which pages and links they come from. Why and legal basis: as above.
Usage totals. From time to time we turn these server logs into totals: how many update checks, package repository requests, downloads and page views there were per day, broken down by things such as country, operating system, release channel, file or page, and the site or link a visit came from. For that we use the IP address only to look up the country, to count distinct addresses and to leave out our own traffic. The totals contain no IP addresses, and in the breakdowns small groups are merged, so they don't identify anyone. Why and legal basis: to see how Holler Bell is used and where people find it; our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
E-mail you send us (bug reports, questions, and feedback about Holler Bell). We use your address and message only to answer you, fix problems and improve the app and this website. When we track a bug internally, we record it without your name or e-mail address. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you and improving the product (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Bug reports on GitHub. If you report a problem on our GitHub page, your report and your GitHub user name are public, and GitHub processes them under its own privacy statement. We use your report only to answer you and to fix problems. Reports may be read and answered by Bellhop, an automated account of our team that uses an AI assistant; a person on the team is responsible for the replies. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you and improving the product (Art. 6(1)(f)). If you'd rather not report in public, write to support@hollerbell.com.
“Using it at work?” e-mails. If you write to us about using Holler Bell at work, we keep your e-mail address and answers to reply to you and possibly to send you a few written follow-up questions. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)); you can withdraw it at any time by replying “stop”. We use your answers without your address to understand demand.
What never reaches us
Your prompts, terminal content, file paths, code, hostnames, or anything your agents do. Your agents talk to their own providers (for example Anthropic or OpenAI) under those providers' terms, not through us.
No cookies, no analytics
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking scripts. This website loads no fonts or scripts from other servers. The only statistics we keep are the totals from server logs described above.
How long we keep it
- Server logs (update server and website): only as long as needed to operate and secure the service. We are setting this to 30 days. We keep only aggregate counts (for example “update checks per day per country and operating system”), which don't identify anyone.
- Download records: the download ID is deleted after 30 days, together with the server logs; we keep only counts.
- E-mails: as long as needed to resolve your request, at most 2 years.
Who else processes it
We run our servers and internal bug tracker ourselves. Our e-mail runs on our own servers as well.
We use an AI assistant, Claude by Anthropic, to help us sort bug reports and e-mails and draft replies; a person at Holler Bell is responsible for every reply. Anthropic processes this content for us and we have turned off the use of our conversations for model training. Anthropic may process data in the USA; such transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU standard contractual clauses.
Your data is not sold and not shared for marketing.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to privacy@hollerbell.com. Please note that from an IP address alone we usually cannot tell which log lines are yours.
You can also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in the Czech Republic that is the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ, www.uoou.gov.cz).
Changes
If what we collect changes (for example if a future version adds usage statistics that you can agree to), we will update this page before that version is released and mention it in the release notes.
